Whitley Meadows Arabians History

A enthusiast of Arab horses all her life, initially  Jill competed in Endurance events for over 16 years, first in Cumbria but gradually residing further and further down the country, riding in Lincs and N. Yorks before arriving in Devon in 2001.

Then one day she went to watch Arabian racing at Exeter and became hooked.  One mare that raced that day and caught her eye was Pronika and in 2006, Jill began her move from endurance into racing by purchasing one of Pronika’s foals  Star Valentina (Div/Pronika) privately as a two year old.

The transition from endurance to racing was completed when after breaking (Sam Holdsworth) and training (Gill Plumbley) Star Valentina went on to win at Taunton in 2010 and achieve several placings.

At this point Jill got the racing ‘bug’ and in 2010 Popidol Kossak was purchased as a foundation broodmare, and Whitley Meadows Arabians was born.

Popidol Kossack , a successful racehorse was an ideal foundation brood mare. She had been imported from the Kossack stud in Holland by trainer Angela College and she had the desired bloodlines to put to a first class stallion - Dahess - by Amer.

In 2011 the very successful race mare Wayward Faery (ARO rating 102) was also purchased as a brood mare from Colin Banks for whom she had already bred 2 foals.
